Discussing pilot project ideas for local ocean alkalinity enhancement

Experts from the CDRmare consortium on CO2 removal by increasing ocean alkalinity (RETAKE) met yesterday with stakeholders from industry, science and local authorities in Kiel, Germany. Together, they developed ideas and concepts for possible regional pilot projects to increase alkalinity and discussed the conditions under which they could be implemented.

The discussions also focused on the important question of how local communities and all important authorities and bodies can be involved in the planning and implementation of a planned project from the outset.

The agenda, the objectives and presentations as well as a list of the participating institutions can be found here.

The workshop was jointly organised by the CDRmare research consortium RETAKE and the Kiel Science Centre.
